The Preacher and the
Hooker
Acknowledgments
How do I thank a man?
How do I show the man just how much I appreciate what he has done for me? How can I pay tribute
to the one man who has done more to turn my life around than any other living person has? Nothing I could
do or say would be enough. When I called him, he was so gentle; all he said was, "We need to talk."
This one man has been living proof of the one scripture that led to well over 600 pages of searching, to find out who
I am. The one verse is the reason that this book has been written and led me on to a second book.
This one verse is the reason I am now able to reach out to others. That one verse helped me to finish
a song that took twenty-five years to write. That one verse has brought reconciliation to many I have hurt
in my life. That verse is the reason a gospel tract has been written that is reaching
across this nation. That verse is James 5:16 KJV, Confess your faults one to another and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent
prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Any life that has changed because of this book, my tract, my song, my testimony, or any lives that have
been reconciled, I owe it to this man who led the way. I pray that God will bless him richly for taking
the time, being gentle and for being the man that God put in my path. Mr. Scott Rutherford.
I thank you, Sir. (It has happened again, I who could not cry for over 33 years am now sobbing in
appreciation of what Scott has done for me in my life.) I’ll tell it, I’ll write it, and Scott
Rutherford, I thank you sir. I love you. Someday after the dust has settled, I’d
like to hug you.
The Preacher and the Hooker A Bible Study of the Book of Hosea
Special Note
In no way is this study to be taken by anyone as Sam the preacher and the hooker. On the contrary, our roles
are completely reversed, my wife is the lady, and I am the fallen champion. I completely admit to
and write of my dysfunction throughout this study of Hosea.
I have come for your sake. As a part of my penance, I have been sent to warn you, and to
offer you hope to escape my fate.
--Morrly Dickens Christmas Carol
If it were desired to crush a man
or woman completely, to punish him so severely that even the most hardened murderer would quail, it would only be needed to
make his work absolutely pointless and absurd. --Fedor
Dostoevski
Defeat is never
fatal unless you give up. Unless a person has a reason to live for other than himself he will die first
mentally, then emotionally, then physically. --Quote
from In the Arena By Richard M. Nixon
The great man is he who does not lose his child’s heart. --Meng-Tzu
