Bitterness; symbolic of affliction, misery, servitude; often producing pain, sorrow, or grief —Thompson Chain - Topics
Bitterness and resentment are sins which have no place in the believer's life. Jesus plainly states that those who refuse to forgive others will not be forgiven (Matt. 6:14, 15).—The Christian Counselor's Handbook
Ephesians 4:30-32
30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Hebrews 12:14-15 (KJV)
14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

Listen to Pastor Damian Kyle explain how the best friend and a counsel to King David had the right to be infuriated and bitter. The problem was that Ahithophel allowed bitterness to take control of his life. Ahithophel was the grandfather of Bathsheba. Bathsheba’s husband had been murdered by the king. Ahithophel’s bitterness leads him to try to destroy the king. The bitterness grew so great that Ahithophel tried to arrange the murder of King David Himself. The store ends with bitterness leading to thousands dying and Ahithophel committing suicide.

Ahithophel knew nothing about Nathan’s confrontation “’David’, you are the man.’” (2 Samuel 12:7) Ahithophel knew nothing about David writing Psalms 51 to be read and sung before the congregation.

I, Sam Horner, beg of you, Please don’t allow bitterness to destroy your life. Ahithophel had a right to be infuriated and bitter as you may have. Please allow Pastor Damian Kyle’s teaching, “Breaking Free From the Barrenness of Bitterness” to minister healing to you.

Heartbreak Over a Rebellious Child -- 2 Samuel 18:32-33
Listen as Pastor Damian Kyle of Calvary Chapel Modesto tells how far one can go when driven by rebellion and bitterness. Pastor Damian tells of the heartaches and tears that King David had over the problems of rape, murder and rebellion that were a part of his children’s lives’. Absalom in his own mind had every reason for the murder of his step brother and his rebellion towards his father. Sometimes rebellious children will use the sins of their parents as an excuse for their own wickedness but God will not allow it. Ultimately God stepped in to put a stop to the rebellious one.

Joseph's brothers allowed jealousy and bitterness to grow into hatred and murder in the heart. Genesis 37

Cain's anger turned to bitterness, hatred, and murder. Genesis 4:3-8

God is so unfair! Jesus choose to become a victim for the healing of a victim, took the guilt of the perpetrator onto Himself and become our rescuer and God allowed and agreed with the plan. THANK GOD, GOD IS SO UNFAIR.

Heartbreak of a Friend's Betrayal -- 2 Samuel 17:23
Listen as Pastor Damian Kyle of Calvary Chapel Modesto tells how counsel from someone who has a bent and twisted agenda of revenge will show itself to be poor counsel.Ahithophel, David’s’ best friend was a legend of wisdom who was poisoned by bitterness. The problem of trying to bring about vengeances on another can open a floodgate of death when opportunity is presented.  Anyone who has a bent on vengeances will give counsel to others from their own heart and out of their heart their mouth will speak that which will pollute the counsel to the one seeking counsel. As you listen, Pastor Kyle explains, God is totally intolerant of Unforgivenes. Unforgivenes cost Ahithophel his life.

The Lie

Pastor Wall Romans 1:24-32

When we decide to redefine how to handle our problems, hurts and pain contrary to the word of God we are rejecting the God who reveals Himself through His Word. When we reject God’s Word we have become part of the original rebellion. We have aligned our selves with Satan’s Lie that we can be as a god.

Genesis 3:4-5 (KJV)
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Listen to Pastor Wall teaching on Romans 1 24-32 as he helps us to understand the downward spiral that will follow when we decide to call our own shots.

Chris Hill: Your Parents Are Human
As a child, it’s easy to grow up thinking that parents are superheroes because of their protection over us. In this 2-minute teaching video illustration, Chris Hill reminds us that parents are human, not superheroes and need God’s grace and mercy just like we do.

Proverbs 3:4-8 (NIV)
Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
