Gen 0001 Genesis verses Evolution
Or
Which Side are You On?
Notes by Lay teacher, Sammy Horner

 “The name Genesis means Beginning"

The book of Genesis deals with the beginning of everything. It deals with the beginning of creation.  It deals with the beginning of sin. It deals with the beginning of a plan for redemption and a plan for reconciliation.  It deals with the beginning of family, of culture, of industry. It deals with the beginning of the Hebrew nation. Jon Courson states, “It deals with the beginning of every thing you could possible image accept it does not deal with the beginning of God”.
Only two world views, in the beginning God and in the beginning a big accident.

As far as the world that we live in against reason embrace evolution, Darwinism and we need to understand that there is a very dark side to these beliefs. If our origins came about by some cosmic accident over billions of years there is an extreme difference in how we look at right and wrong or if there is a right and wrong.

I could go over tons of materials that have refuted the theories of evolution by true science and the bible. I will go over a few of the facts. But I also want to give you a look at the dark side of evolution so that you might understand why we as a Christian need to make a decision as to what side of creation we need to be on.

Young people today are open and willing to look at and discuss ideas backed by facts.  Let’s give them the facts and they will make intelligent discussions.

Let’s look at the very first verse in Genesis.
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Genesis 1:1

Do we accept this statement? Do we accept the beginning as God states it? Do we accept that God created? Do we accept that God created the heaven and the earth? Do we accept, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”?

Can I trust a God who may not have the understanding or be as bright as my 9th grade science teacher who told me I was an evolutionary descendent of an ape?
I replied, you may be related to an ape but I know who I’m a descendent of.

But if there is a God He wants me to believe “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”. How can I trust writings that are 2, 4 and 6000 yr old? Can God be trusted?

God does not argue His own existence nor does the Word argue God's existence; it declares God's existence. Scripture does not argue that the heavens and earth have a Creator; it declares that God created the heavens and the earth.

Why would God not explain that he exists? Let me ask you a question. If you were going to write an autobiography would you take chapter after chapter to explain that you exist? If you were writing the book you would not need to write chapters proving who you are.

Jesus said, “the creation of Adam was the beginning.” Was Jesus Lying.
Can Jesus be trusted?

Does it matter which God a man worships? Yes, positively. There is an arch-enemy of God in the universe who also seeks to be worshipped. Taking advantage of man's instinct to worship, he has created many gods and systems of worship. And when he creates a god he will create a god that mankind will feel is the most beneficial to himself, like himself and used to bring about what mankind can use to entrap themselves. If mankind belives in evolution then there is no God and no one to answer to. Mankind is only responsible to themselves.

How does Satan tempt us to believe “The lie”?
• He comes disguised in his person and in his purposes.
• He subtly and slyly shifts our focus from God to things we shouldn't focus on.
• He attacks God's Word, as he did with Eve: "You don't believe that, do you?"
• He goes deeper and attacks God's character, attacking his goodness (Gen. 1:5).
• Once we disobey God's Word and doubt his goodness, Satan has done his work.
• When that happens, what once was out of bounds becomes the thing we desire.
Conclusion
Satan tempts not with a piece of fruit, but with disobedience of God's Word and distrust of God's goodness.

There are only two world views: either everything is a result of a cosmic accident, or we are the result of a deliberate design by a Designer.

There are also four basic questions common to every individual:
Who am I?
Where did I come from?
Why am I here?
Where am I going when I die?

So where do you want to go for the answers to the question of life, evolution or the word of God?

The Atheists Know … Why Christianity has to Fight Evolution
‘Christianity has fought, still fights, and will continue to fight science to the desperate end over evolution, because evolution destroys utterly and finally the very reason Jesus’ earthly life was supposedly made necessary. Destroy Adam and Eve and the original sin, and in the rubble you will find the sorry remains of the Son of God. If Jesus was not the redeemer who died for our sins, and this is what evolution means, then Christianity is nothing.’

Aldous Huxley:
Admits motive for anti-theistic bias
Aldous Huxley was a British novelist who wrote Brave New World (1932), and was a grandson of ‘Darwin’s Bulldog’, T.H. Huxley. He was also the brother of the leading atheistic evolutionist Sir Julian Huxley (see quotes: Humanism as religion and Human soul and religion are just the product of religion), and died the same day as Christian apologist C.S. Lewis, and the assassination of JFK (22 Nov. 1963). Aldous Huxley made this frank admission about his anti-theistic motivation:
‘I had motive for not wanting the world to have a meaning; consequently assumed that it had none, and was able without any difficulty to find satisfying reasons for this assumption. The philosopher who finds no meaning in the world is not concerned exclusively with a problem in pure metaphysics, he is also concerned to prove that there is no valid reason why he personally should not do as he wants to do, or why his friends should not seize political power and govern in the way that they find most advantageous to themselves. … For myself, the philosophy of meaninglessness was essentially an instrument of liberation, sexual and political.’

The Dark side
If we came here from slim, to a fish, to a frog, to a dog to an ape to a man, from goo by way of the zoo. We are only going from a lesser state to a more perfect state. There are no absolutes. There is no right and wrong. Right and wrong is only defined as we evolve to a greater state.
If there is a right and wrong and if there is an evil force in this world and the evil force shows himself as the evil force in Genesis chapter 3, what would be the objectives of this evil one? Would it not be to take out as many human beings as possible, to justify as many abortions as possible, and to cleanse the world of the unfit?
We really do need to understand that there is a spiritual war going on here.

Hitler and Evolution
Quotable Quote by Sir Arthur Keith
Sir Arthur Keith was a British anthropologist, an atheistic evolutionist and an anti-Nazi, but he drew this chilling conclusion:
‘The German Führer, as I have consistently maintained, is an evolutionist; he has consciously sought to make the practice of Germany conform to the theory of evolution.’

If you look you will find a direct line that runs from Darwin, through the founder of the eugenics movement (Darwin's cousin, Francis Galton) to the extermination camps of Nazi Europe.

Picture eugenics
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Eugenics

...Historically, eugenics has been used as a justification for coercive state-sponsored discrimination and human rights violations, such as forced sterilization of persons with genetic defects, the killing of the institutionalized and, in some cases, genocide of races perceived as inferior.
Selective breeding of human beings was suggested at least as far back as Plato, but the modern field and term was first formulated by Sir Francis Galton in 1865, drawing on the recent work of his cousin Charles Darwin…
… Nazi Germany under Adolf Hitler was infamous for eugenics programs which attempted to maintain a "pure" German race through a series of programs that ran under the banner of "racial hygiene". Among other activities, the Nazis performed extensive experimentation on live human beings to test their genetic theories, ranging from simple measurement of physical characteristics to the horrific experiments carried out by Josef Mengele for Otmar von Verschuer on twins in the concentration camps. During the 1930s and 1940s, the Nazi regime forcibly sterilized hundreds of thousands of people whom they viewed as mentally and physically "unfit", an estimated 400,000 between 1934 and 1937. The scale of the Nazi program prompted American eugenics advocates to seek an expansion of their program, with one complaining that "the Germans are beating us at our own game".[11] The Nazis went further, however, killing tens of thousands of the institutionalized disabled through compulsory "euthanasia" programs.[12]
They also implemented a number of "positive" eugenics policies, giving awards to "Aryan" women who had large numbers of children and encouraged a service in which "racially pure" single women could deliver illegitimate children. Allegations that such women were also impregnated by SS officers in the Lebensborn are common, but unprooven. Also, "racially valuable" children from occupeid countries were forcibly removed from their parents and adopted by German people. Many of their concerns for eugenics and racial hygiene were also explicitly present in their systematic killing of millions of "undesirable" people including Jews, gypsies, Jehovah's Witnesses and homosexuals during the Holocaust (much of the killing equipment and methods employed in the death camps were first developed in the euthanasia program). The scope and coercion involved in the German eugenics programs along with a strong use of the rhetoric of eugenics and so-called "racial science" throughout the regime created an indelible cultural association between eugenics and the Third Reich in the postwar years.[13]

Human soul and religion are just the product of evolution
Quotable Quote by Sir Julian Huxley
Sir Julian Huxley was the brother of anti-Christian novellist Aldous Huxley and a grandson of Thomas Henry (T.H.) Huxley, better known as ‘Darwin’s Bulldog’. Julian was a leading evolutionary biologist, the first Director-General of UNESCO and signatory to the Humanist Manifesto II. He made it clear what he and other leading evolutionists really thought about:
‘In the evolutionary pattern of thought there is no longer either need or room for the supernatural. The earth was not created: it evolved. So did all the animals and plants that inhabit it, including our human selves, mind and soul as well as brain and body. So did religion.’

Darwin versus Compassion
The full title of Darwin's Magnum Opus is Origin of the Species by means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of the Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life. Darwin's other writings reveal how barbarous evolutionary philosophy can be:
With savages, the weak in body and mind are soon eliminated; and those that survive commonly exhibit a vigorous state of health. We civilised men, on the other hand, do our utmost to check the process of elimination; we build asylums for the imbecile, the maimed and the sick; we institute poor laws; and our medical men exert their utmost skill to save the life of everyone to the last moment. There is reason to believe that vaccination has preserved thousands who, from a weak constitution, would formerly have succumbed to smallpox. Thus the weak members of civilised society propagate their kind.
No one who has attended to the breeding of domestic animals will doubt that this must be highly injurious to the race of man. It is surprising how soon a want of care, or care wrongly directed, leads to the degeneration of a domestic race; but, excepting in the case of man himself, hardly anyone is so ignorant as to allow his worst animals to breed.
The aid which we feel impelled to give to the helpless is mainly an incidental result of the instinct of sympathy, which was originally acquired as part of the social instincts, but subsequently rendered in the manner previously indicated more tender and more widely diffused. Nor can we check our sympathy, even without deterioration in the noblest part of our nature ... We must, therefore, bear the undoubtedly bad effects of the weak surviving and propagating their kind.
(Charles Darwin, The Descent of Man, 2nd Ed., pp. 133–134, 1887)

H.G. Wells: Darwin’s disciple and eugenicist extraordinaire
by Jerry Bergman
Summary
…Wells advocated a level of eugenics that was even more extreme than Hitler’s. The weak should be killed by the strong, having ‘no pity and less benevolence’. The diseased, deformed and insane, together with ‘those swarms of blacks, and brown, and dirty-white, and yellow people … will have to go’ in order to create a scientific utopia. He envisioned a time when all crime would be punished by death because ‘People who cannot live happily and freely in the world without spoiling the lives of others are better out of it.’…
…This goal was to be completed by ‘death’ or ‘mercy killings’, and it was expected that those involved in the eugenic world that Wells advocated should have ‘no pity and less benevolence …’, and should ‘not be squeamish’ about inflicting death on the unfit, because those who kill the weak will have a ‘fuller sense of the possibilities of life than we possess. They will have an ideal that will make killing worth the while.’[1] His concern was to control the ‘laws of evolution so that mankind could become their master rather than their victim’.[2]
According to Gardner, the ‘unfit’ that Wells added to his list included persons with
‘transmittable diseases, with mental disorders, with bodily deformations, the criminally insane, even the incurable alcoholic! All are to be put to death humanely—by first giving them opiates to spare them needless suffering!’[3]
… ‘Wells’ statements about inferior races, and the use of killing as a tool to weed out the unfit, come perilously close to Hitler’s efforts to breed a superior Aryan race, and to “solve the Jewish question” with the aid of gas chambers.’[4]
Achenbach noted, Wells’ ‘scientific utopia, led by a powerful elite, bore an uneasy relationship to the totalitarian horrors of Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union’.[6]…  …Many of his works also advocate a dictatorship by the educated-elite class and disparage the common, less-educated population. For this reason, he was opposed to democracy, and felt that the world should be governed by an enlightened science-trained elite, i.e. the scientists.[5]
… Wells concluded that ‘Darwinism destroyed the dogma of the Fall upon which the whole intellectual fabric of Christianity rests. For without a Fall there is no redemption, and the whole theory and meaning of the Pauline system is vain.’[7] …
… Wells also predicted that Protestant Christianity would slowly decay, and many of those who abandoned Protestantism would turn to pseudoscientific cults, such as spiritualism, Eastern religions, witchcraft and devil worship. He concluded that the latter two activities were more of an expression of rebellion than of sincere belief. Gardner concludes that Wells was ‘quite accurate’ in this prediction…[3]

Jesus warned us, "Take heed that no man deceive you."
Ancient cultures worshiped gods made of wood and stone. Myths were embraced to explain fears and creation. But modern paganism has invented the most insulting "god" of all. Instead of giving worship to an idol of the Creation, the modern world has chosen to give all the credit to randomness and chance. We have done our best to stick our finger into the eye of God Himself. We have decided we don’t need a designer. It all "just happened."  "First there was nothing.  Then it exploded!"

The premise that we are all simply the accidental result of random chance underlies our entire culture, not just biology: the fields of psychology, our social and political sciences, our media, our entertainments, and, of course, the forced inculcation of our children in the government schools.

As you can see when evolution is used to answer the questions of life. very dark answers are found.

This is the first thing that God reveals to man, the very first thing that God wants man to know: where man and his world have come from. God wants man to know the origin of the universe and of life upon earth. But why? Why is it that God wants man to know the origin of all things before knowing anything else? Because of the nature of man. The nature of man has three basic needs that only God can meet, and God wants to meet these needs.

1. There is the need for life, the need to conquer death. By nature, man lives only for a few years and then he dies. Man's life is like a vapor that quickly appears and just as quickly disappears. His life is like a leaf that quickly forms in the spring of the year, but just as quickly floats to the ground upon the fall winds and returns to the dust of the earth. God wants to meet man's need for life; God wants to conquer death for man. But to do this, man must know that he and the world have come from the hand of God, that he belongs to God—all he is and has belongs to the worship and service of God. This is the first reason man must know his origin, that he has come from the hand of God.

2. There is the need of man to improve his life upon earth, the need to conquer the devastating evils of the world and of the human heart and of society.
By nature the world is corruptible, and this corruption causes all kinds of evil and devastation, starvation, homelessness, poverty, and a host of other natural disasters and social ills. In addition, man finds his own heart and even the hearts of nations filled with evil, the evil of...

Two tragic and terrible things often happen with man and his technology and science.
1. Man tends to forget that he can lengthen his life only for a certain number of years. True, man can live longer through good health, medicine, and science. But man never will be able to live forever, not by his own efforts, not through human technology and science. Therefore, man's efforts to lengthen his life and to discover the basic material and energy of physical life will always come up short.

There is only one discovery that can lengthen life permanently and eternally. That is the great discovery of Jesus Christ, God's Son. Man must discover Christ and trust Christ to save him from death. Man must trust Christ to give him eternal life (cp. John 3:16-18; John 5:24; John 10:10).

2. Man can improve his life and make himself comfortable with the things developed through technology and science. But material things do not satisfy nor fulfill the human soul, not completely, not perfectly. Material things cannot erase...

Is this possible?
Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Was this really the beginning of time, space and matter?
or
1. In the beginning nothing, out of the nothing something began to form either a dark or light nebulae of either hot or cold gases. These either started twirling too fast & spun off or exploded. As one of these masses began to cool the earth was formed. Some chemicals came from somewhere & by remote chance defied the law of possibility & life was formed. This form of life by a strange miracle was able to reproduce itself & as it did, higher orders began to form.
2. Certain scientists have recently postulated that for the DNA & RNA to evolve in the cell would take at least 10 follow by 5,000 zeros years. X 6 X l0 zeros).

2. I know this sounds pretty far fetched, but if you don't want to believe in God you've got to be far fetched.

Do I have to except all of this stuff on faith alone? Is there a way that God could get a message to me personally proving that He exists? Is there any way that He could prove that the word is relevant today?
I am really glad you asked.

How does God let us know that this message is really from Him?
By send us a message that is outside of our time domain
Looking into the future

The Validation
The Originator of this message system demonstrates this by writing history in advance, before it happens. Furthermore, it also testifies of the identity of a remarkable Visitor who came to save us from a genetic defect we all have inherited from our initial ancestor, Adam. It is a love story, written in blood, on a wooden cross erected in Judea almost 2,000 years ago.

If God is the one who created space and time then he would be able to see time from out side of time.  If God is outside of time and space and can see the end from the beginning then He could choose to enter where and when He decides. How would God get a message to use that He is outside of time? He would send a message that He is able to see time from the beginning to the end.
Let me explain. When I was seven in 1957 I watched the movie the miracle on 34th street with the young Natalie Wood.  At the time I was madly in love with Natalie until I found out that the movie was made in 1946. It broke my heart.  One scene in the movie Natalie was watching the parade from a window far above the street.  From her view point she could see the beginning and the end of the parade.  She talked about how the different floats and characters had been changed from the year before.  In the movie the character that Natalie played was in the scene when the parade was set up in the order that it would proceed.  You see the character had inside information from outside of the timeline.  She saw the parade from the end to the beginning all at one time.  Those in the street below saw one scene at a time as it passed by. You see Natalie’s character had inside information. She was there with her mother when the order of events was set into motion.

Isa 46:9-10 Remember the former things of old: for I [am] God, and [there is] none else; [I am] God, and [there is] none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times [the things] that are not [yet] done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

God has written many, many messages that we will cover in our studies. Here is just one.

Cyrus. Daniel was lead captive during the first sedge of Nebakanazer and take to Babylon. .  When the Meeds and Pursen took over they thought they were invincible. In Daniel 5 is the story of how Nebakanazer and his kingdom fell. 150 years before Cyrus took the city it was told how he would do it in the book of Isaiah.
Isaiah 44:26-28 (NKJV)

26 Who confirms the word of His servant, And performs the counsel of His messengers; Who says to Jerusalem, 'You shall be inhabited,' To the cities of Judah, 'You shall be built,' And I will raise up her waste places;

27 Who says to the deep, 'Be dry! And I will dry up your rivers';

28 Who says of Cyrus, 'He is My shepherd, And he shall perform all My pleasure, Saying to Jerusalem, "You shall be built," And to the temple, "Your foundation shall be laid." '
Isaiah 45:1-6 (NKJV)

1 "Thus says the LORD to His anointed, To Cyrus, whose right hand I have held--To subdue nations before him And loose the armor of kings, To open before him the double doors, So that the gates will not be shut:

2 'I will go before you And make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the gates of bronze And cut the bars of iron.

3 I will give you the treasures of darkness And hidden riches of secret places, That you may know that I, the LORD, Who call you by your name, Am the God of Israel.

4 For Jacob My servant's sake, And Israel My elect, I have even called you by your name; I have named you, though you have not known Me.

5 I am the LORD, and there is no other; There is no God besides Me. I will gird you, though you have not known Me,

6 That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting That there is none besides Me. I am the LORD, and there is no other;
Daniel 5:30-31 (AMP)

30 During that night Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans was slain,

31 And Darius the Mede took the kingdom; he was about sixty-two years old.

Daniel 6:28 (AMP)
28 So this [man] Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

Chance as the Master Architect?
by Chuck Missler
If we walked into the kitchen and found a scattering of alphabet soup letters on the floor that spelled out a meaningful sentence, we would recognize that it was the deliberate handiwork of someone doing the spelling.

Cryptography is also an example of exploring discoveries which are highly improbable to be attributed to chance. When we encounter events that are extremely improbable - that is, highly unlikely to have occurred by unaided chance alone - we attribute them to deliberate design.

If we encountered a series of ostensibly "random" letters, but discovered that some systematic transformation rendered them into a meaningful sentence, we would infer that someone had hidden that message there deliberately.  Random chance would be deemed too unlikely to have caused that unaided.

Names
Isaiah 46:9-10 (NKJV)
