God Creates a Birthday Present for Adam PT2

Genesis 1:14-31 (KJV)

On the fourth day God made lights.  Genesis 1:14-16 (KJV)

14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

[Here it is… it was created for us!!!] and it was so!]

15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth:

16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

Oh yea, he made stars to.

17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

—Strong's Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary

Pastor Joe puts this, “God made light on the first day and light bulbs on the four day.” This would also go along with how God made everything functioning when it was made. Man was created a full grown man. Trees were full grown with fruit on them. The first trees and flowers did not need the bees to pollinate before there was fruit. The pollination came to bring about the command to continue to multiply it’s own kind. How can you have fruit without pollination? How can you have the chicken without an egg? How can you have a man without a mother? How can you have light from a star hitting the earth that is millions of light years away the day it was created?

All of this was had made to be interdependent on each other. Streams were made for the salmon to go up stream. flower buds were made at the same time as fruit was created so that the bee would have a job to do. Light carriers were created with their light source already hitting the earth so that time and seasons could be told without the light stream taking thousands of light years to get here..

Caution: the notes below, we are looking at again “God Creates a Birthday Present for Adam PT1.” After looking at the text in Hebrew we came to the conclusion that we disagree with the —Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary— listen to the audio of this lesson as you study this text to see if you agree.

Notes for Verse 16

Both these lights may be said to be "made" on the fourth day -- not created, indeed, for it is a different word that is here used, but constituted, appointed to the important and necessary office of serving as luminaries to the world, and regulating by their motions and their influence the progress and divisions of time.

—Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary

The heavenly bodies are signs that men use for direction, whether upon land or sea; signs that guide a compass by day or night.

The heavenly bodies are signs that indicate weather conditions.

"He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?" (Matthew 16:2-3).

The heavenly bodies are signs that declare the glory of God and point a person to God.

The heavenly bodies are signs that control the oceans and their tides day by day and month by month.

The moon influences the tides of the seas.

The heavenly bodies provide seasons for the earth (Genesis 1:14). How were seasons created? Note two significant facts.

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven" (Eccles. 3:1).

17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Why would verse 17 and 18 be a repeat of Genesis 1:14-15? Why re-stress this, probably because of man's tendency to worship and to seek his fate and destiny in the sun, moon, and stars.

The heavenly bodies are to rule over the day and the night, not over man's life. God never intended the heavenly bodies to rule over man's life. He made them only to rule over the day and the night.

Astrology and the worship of the heavenly bodies are false beliefs and false worship.

 The person who reads his fate and destiny in the heavenly bodies reads in vain.

 The person who joys or stumbles because of what he reads in the daily star charts do so in vain.

 The person who worships the sun, moon, or stars worships in vain.

The heavenly bodies were created by God only to rule over the day and night, not over people's lives. There is only one God who is to rule over our lives, God Himself. And there are only two persons who determine our fate and destiny: ourselves and God. I do not worship the stars, I worship the one who made the stars.

"Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them" (Jeremiah 10:2).

Light— Creation: God saw that His creation was "good"—light upon the earth fulfilled its function.

20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature {<H8318> creep (-ing thing), move (-ing creature)} that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

Genesis 1:21 (KJV)
21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Termites eat wood. But they can’t digest it. They have bacteria that live in their digestive tracks in that brake down cellulose. The termite can’t live without the bacteria but the bacteria can’t live anywhere else but in the termite’s digestive track.

Bats have sonar but moths have anti sonar. When a mouth detects the sonar signal hitting them they will pull in their wings and drop causing the bat to miss the moth.

21 And God created great whales,

{ <H8577> tan-neen'  or tanniym, tan-neem'; (Ezek. 29:3), intensive from the same as <H8565> (tan); a marine or land monster, i.e. sea-serpent or jackal :- dragon, sea-monster, serpent, whale.}

and every living creature  <H5315>  neh'-fesh, properly a breathing creature, translated soul or soulful  i.e. animal or (abstract) vitality; used very widely in a literal, accommodated or figurative sense (bodily or mental)

that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

The things now created were "living souls"—soulish creatures. The "living souls" were animals: water and air creatures that breathe and possess consciousness and live by being animated and moving about.

" Let the waters teem with swarms of 'living souls.' " This is the first time the word "soul" is used in Scripture. The soul is the breath, life, consciousness, and animation of animals. The soul is the essence and being of animals. Animals are soulish creatures, creatures that breathe, possess conscious life, and are animated. It is this that distinguishes animals from vegetation. Animals are, breathing beings, conscious beings, and animated beings.

22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

[God blessed them] First blessing from God: God blessed the soulful ones.

1. Fruitfulness: Hebrew: parah (HSN-<H6509>), bear fruit, the power of procreation (Gen. 1:28; 8:17; 9:1,7; Ps. 128:3)

2. Multiplication: Hebrew: rabah (HSN-<H7235>), to increase

3. Occupancy of suitable places: Hebrew: male' (HSN-<H4390>), to replenish (note, Gen. 1:28).

23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature…

<H5315>  { [life] Hebrew: nephesh (HSN-<H5315>), the soul -- the feelings, passions, and appetites of any living thing. }

…after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
25 And God <H430>  made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God <H430> saw that it was good.

26 And God <H430>  said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God <H430> created man in his own image, in the image of God <H430> created he him; male and female created he them.

28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

[And God blessed them] The second blessing was on man and woman together, not on man alone or other creatures.

29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

God is a God of beauty and variety.

Think about how much companionship the creatures of the sea and air provide for us. Think about how empty the waters and air would be without any life whatsoever.

Think about how empty the earth would be without any fish or birds or my dog Beans and Coco and Murphy and Biscuits . Think about and praise God for giving us the companionship—the variety and beauty—of water and air creatures.

"The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!" (Psalm 8:8-9).

"O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches. So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts [creatures]" (Psalm 104:24-25).

I still love my diamonds and dolphins. Now I understand that God was talking to me when the word states, “and God saw that it was good.”

God saw that His creation was good—the water and air creatures fulfilled their function and purpose.

 To give variety and beauty to the earth's water and sky; to show forth His glorious handiwork.

 To provide companionship for man.

Why did God create the material universes? The answer is: to be inhabited with intelligent, free moral agents, to whom He could reveal Himself, and who would enjoy His infinite blessings and goodness. The earth was created to be inhabited. Happy birthday Adam, I created this for you, your wife and all your grand children.

“And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.”
